Right to Information (RTI)

"Democracy must be built through open societies that share information. When there is information, there is enlightenment. When there is debate, there are solutions. When there is no sharing of power, no rule of law, no accountability, there is abuse, corruption, subjugation and indignation."

Kuchh Aur

"Great changes in the destiny of mankind can be effected only in the minds of little children."

-Sir Herbert Read

Compassion, courage and selflessness are qualities that need to be instilled in children right in their early years. PCGT, through interactive and engaging sessions in different schools, helps the young minds to aspire for higher values in life.

The medium of short films and interactive sessions has proved to be very effective in influencing their thought process during their formative years. The children appreciate and aspire for ethical behaviour, social cohesiveness and cultural diversity of the country.

• VISION

To inculcate values among school children and help them become good and responsible citizens.

• OBJECTIVE

The main objective of PCGT is to promote good governance at all levels. Good governance gets built up by spreading and insisting on values and being ethical. When inculcated in children, we can look forward to their shaping as responsible citizens of this country. We have conceived a project for reinforcement of morals and values amongst the school-going children with the help of short interesting films. Our vision is to begin a value based knowledge-cum-entertainment program for the students that go to supplement formal education.

The Kuchh Aur sessions start with an introduction of the resource person from PCGT who then briefs the students about PCGT and the movie to be shown. For motivating them to see the movie carefully, the students are told that after the movie, a few questions related to the film will be asked and that three prizes shall be given for the best answers. Follow up sessions in which creative activities like drama, drawing, poster making, group discussion and essay writing based on the movie screening session is conducted. As parents and teachers play a major role in moulding a child's character, a trustee from PCGT attends a meeting of the school's PTA (Parents Teachers Association) to interact with the parents and teachers and discuss issues related to values, parent- students-teacher relationship and healthy and happy living.

Corruption Hatayenge

There is unanimity of opinion that corruption at the higher levels of governance can be detrimental for national development, while at lower level it affects the most marginalized section of society. It can be fought by a strong, credible, effective and independent anticorruption mechanism. Corruption is a cancer affecting our nation's political, economic, cultural and social life.

At PCGT, we believe that apart from supporting large mass movements against corruption, we must also pay attention to the small corruption that affects the everyday life, especially of the poor. PCGT supports this by filing RTI applications, PILs or simply by writing to the higher authorities!

Opinions

Recent political trends in the country have clearly shown that the people, particularly the youth, are disgusted with the level of corruption prevailing in the society at all levels and in all spheres of life. Youth must come out strongly against such corruption which is destroying our moral fabric and weakening our moral fiber. To begin with youth must understand what are the means available to them to stand up against corruption and oppose it. The PCGTs 'Kuch Aur' programme targets school children so that they inculcate proper values and learn to detest wrong doing including corruption while the "Youth for Governance"programme targets college students to stand up for their rights.
